· Though we focus on Silat & Kali, we also recognize and practice techniques shared from other martial arts including Muay Thai & Juijitsu.
· PKS promotes both team and independent learning, as well as encourages individual expression to aid in not feeling “locked” into a particular system.
· Training is geared for open hand and specific weapons (such as sticks, knives and tomahawks), as well as improvised weapons for all students from day 1.
· We train serious stuff without taking ourselves too seriously. We respect each other’s skill-level ranges which allows for creative growth that helps forge comradery and a strong ego/humility balance.
· Rather than a traditional belt rank, PKS utilizes a level system involving technique curriculum expectations and a strong grasp of fundamentals. This is a framework that helps recognize where you stand as a reference point.
· It’s not just what we teach, it’s how we teach it.
